OUR INITIATIVES

“Your environment plays an important role in prevention. Communities play a key role in protecting adolescents from early substance use. Prevention efforts can be implemented by building coalitions and comprehensive strategies to reduce risk factors for substance use and addiction.”
– Addiction Policy Forum
Drug Free Fayette TN uses SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) to prevent substance use and related behavioral health problems. The SPF involves five steps: assessing local prevention needs based on data, building local resources and readiness, developing a comprehensive plan with measurable objectives, implementing evidence-based programs, and evaluating the effectiveness of these programs.

Two guiding principles support the SPF: Cultural Competence, which ensures effective interaction with diverse populations, and Sustainability, which focuses on achieving long-term results. These principles ensure the strategies are both respectful and sustainable.
